Adults may sign up on this site.
Adult volunteers are called “Drivervisors”. Drivervisors drive the youth volunteers to and from the work site and may also assist with the light yard work if they wish.
- Where – Meet at the orange Y.A.H.O.O. shed located in the Sterling Butterick Municipal Building parking lot (1 Park Street, Sterling).
- When – Arrive by 8:40 AM; expect to arrive back at the shed by 11:00-11:15 AM.
- What to bring – Appropriate clothing for weather, work gloves if desired, and a vehicle!
- What to expect – Drivervisors will be assigned to a house. We will notify you of your assigned house a day or two prior to your work date.
Prior to volunteering, all adults are required to provide written consent for the Town of Sterling to complete a “CORI” check (criminal offender record information). Sterling’s CORI form is available on this site, however it should never be transmitted electronically. The completed CORI form needs to be hand-delivered to the Y.A.H.O.O. Program Director. Because of privacy laws, CORI results cannot be shared between entities. Therefore, a CORI that you may have completed for the school district is not accessible to the Recreation Department.
All parents are encouraged to volunteer at least once. It is our belief that once you see these kids in action you will want to come back and help again. It is a very fulfilling experience!
